Qualifications

  • Be an active, engaged member of a church that shares Houston Christian School’s commitment to Christ’s lordship over all of life and the centrality of God’s Word.
  • Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
  • A Master’s degree in education or a related field is an asset
  • A proven track record of effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experienced teacher (minimum of 5 years) with training and understanding of the meaning and value of a faith-based learning environment
  • Principal or Vice Principal experience is considered an asset

Houston Christian School is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and professional individual to join our team as a Part-Time Office Assistant. This role is essential to the smooth day-to-day operations of our school and serves as a key point of contact for students, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist visitors, parents, and students in a warm and welcoming manner.
  • Manage daily office operations, including answering and directing phone calls and email correspondence.
  • Prepare weekly newsletters, maintain the school calendar, and update the school website.
  • Support school administrators in managing daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
  • Prepare correspondence, meeting minutes, spreadsheets, reports, graphs, and forms.
  • Complete and submit required government reports.
  • Use school databases (including MyEd BC) to manage and track information.

Qualifications

  • Clear, thorough, and professional communication skills with a pleasant demeanour.
  • High level of English writing proficiency.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong computer literacy and willingness to learn the MyEdBC database system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
